Novel Transmission Lines for 32 Gbit/s Si MZI Modulators

Abstract:

We present MZI Silicon Photonics modulators with an advanced transmission line design which overcomes bandwidth limitations arising from crosstalk and improves linear RF-losses. A -3dBe electro-optic bandwidth of 16.2GHz with a 50W matched dual drive voltage of 4V is experimentally validated for a 4mm long device.
